1. How did you first become acquainted with the Church of Scientology?
A friend who knew I was going through a traumatic event.

2. What initially appealed to you about scientology?
I gave them a long list of what was wrong and what I wanted fixed in my life and they said they could help me and they said it with total confidence.

3. Were there problems in your life that you thought scientology would address?
Yes, as I stated in number 2, I had a long list of things.

4. Did you see, experience, or hear about things that didn't seem right while you were in the Church of Scientology? What were they, and what convinced you to set aside your feelings?
Absolutely!!! The list is so long. If you go to the web site and go to the message board and search for 'flippin it' many people posted all the things they saw that were wrong and I agree with all of that because I saw it with my own eyes.

The place is ran more like the Nazi gestapo than any church I ever saw. The pressure on staff to 'get the stats up' is so great that they end up doing all manner of unethical things telling themselves all the while that it is 'the greatest good for the greatest number'.

Living conditions for staff are terrible. I know many, many staff who have lived years with little food and sleep and almost no money. This is on the message board as well.

And if you get put in what they call 'lower conditions' you are treated like an outcast and a slave and have to do manual labor until the 'group' accepts you back in the fold.

This happens much too often. Right at this moment, there are thousands of people being held against there will in LA and Clearwater Florida in what is called the sea organization RPF (rehabilitation Project Force). They can have no contact with the outside world like a newspaper or radio or tv and all there phone calls and letters are monitored to make sure they lie to their family and friends that everything is ok when it really is horrible.

I finally said this is enough after I was told to disconnect from too many friends and saw too many people being publicly ridiculed and called suppressive when these were some of the nicest, finest, kindest most hard working and honest people I had ever met.

Additionally, when you are in the church, you trust them so you tell them all your 'sins' and transgressions and it is supposed to be held in the stictest of confidences. But I know for a fact that if they feel that you have betrayed them (and it can be by a mere disagreement with them) they will disclose your information in a way to harm you, like tell your spouse about an affair you confessed years ago, or tell all your associates about a business lie you confessed and corrected years ago.

What I finally concluded was that if you had any intelligence at all and started questioning anything they were doing, you were labeled a potential trouble source or a suppressive person, even if you did the questioning exactly per the policies laid out by L. R. Hubbard himself and the official church of scientology.

5. Why did you choose to stay in the Church of Scientology?
I stayed while I had money and could pay for auditing and training. It seemed as long as I had money, I was somewhat shielded from what was really going on. That is why the celebrities don't know about this stuff. You never do as long as you have money and keep 'moving up the bridge'.

6. Were you staff or public? If staff, was it at a mission or an org? Were you ever in the Sea Org or OSA? Which unit? If not on staff, did you ever volunteer to 'help out'?
I don't want to say whether I was staff or public and where but I can tell you for 8 long years, I lived and breathed scientology and helped out above and beyond the call, more than I had ever helped out any group before because at the time I was convinced that I was doing the best thing I could do to 'save the planet'
I put myself, my family and friends and all my wants on hold to help this group. I basically didn't associate with non-scientogists unless it was to try and get them to do something in scientology. To do otherwise would be to be labeled a 'dilitante' and 'off-purpose' which was very negative.

7. Why did you leave the Church of Scientology? Was there a "final straw"?
Yes, the final straw was when several more people very close to me were being labeled as suppressive and I knew they were not suppressive. They just disagreed with some church staff and wanted things done per what L. R. Hubbard said.

But it didn't matter.

8. Do you think the Church of Scientology needs to change some of its practices? If so, what should be changed? How did those practices affect your life?
Yes, they need to totally forget about statistics and money and just apply their procedures to as many people as they can for real donations not set prices.

If the planet is truly on its way out and IF they really have the one and only answer to the decline of earth, then they should give away their services to everyone to help them and be a real religion instead of a totalitarian cult.

9. If the items you listed in the previous question were changed, would you consider rejoining or staying in the Church of Scientology? If so, why?
Yes, because then they would really be helping people with whatever they could and the pressure would be off everyone to get statistics. I am sure that if they really did what they say they can do, the donations would roll in probably more money than what they get now with their very high set prices.

10. Any additional comments you would like to make?
It saddens me tremendously that a group has gotten so much power to really harm so many people (and I mean really harm them, physically, mentally, financially, even murder) under the disguise of being a religion and that so many people have been harmed and yet no government or social or religious organization is doing anything to stop them.

Why can't I tell you who I am? Because if I did the gestapo scientology police and every scientologist would have to do whatever they could to harm me to keep me from telling what I know is true. It is in policy. They have to do it.

Once you are what they call declared suppressive, every scientologist is to stop being associated with you even if you are married they must divorce you and every business partner has to stop associating with you even if you have a legal contract and they owe you money.

The civil law does not override scientology rules in practice even though they say you are to obey the laws of the land, in practice it is not followed. The excuse is always, 'it is the greatest good for the greatest number' to do whatever they feel is needed to further scientology.

I could go on and on but instead I recommend everyone go and read the thousands of pages on the web site especially go to the message board and read the stories from people like me who have been there and know from first hand esperience how terrible it has become.

It may sound too bad to be true, but I'm telling you, it is true.

You may say, but how can this be?

And to that I say:
