1. How did you first become acquainted with the Church of Scientology?
Walking down the street I came across a body router who asked me 3 questions that got my interest up. I had just read 'Illusions' by Richard Bach and was searching for some answers. That was on the Wednesday. By the Friday I was on my way to St Hill to do Staff Status 0!

2. What initially appealed to you about scientology?
Not a belief, scientific in it's outlook. the ARC triangle. I didn't realise it was a Religion as I was body routed into a Mission. I got to St Hill and there was a big Sign saying 'Church of Scientology' and a Cross ...... instant ARC break but after I got the answers as to why -- the place would have been closed down if it didn't have Religious protection -- I fell into line.

3. Were there problems in your life that you thought scientology would address?
No. I was interested in finding the answers as to what made the universe tick and OT abilities.

4. Did you see, experience, or hear about things that didn't seem right while you were in the Church of Scientology? What were they, and what convinced you to set aside your feelings?
Well loads really, things were pretty wild in the Mission, I joined the SO in about '87. Conditions were not good. No proper food, cramped conditions. It did show me what I could do though. It's a big carrot the Tech and a very big thing to have taken away.

5. Why did you choose to stay in the Church of Scientology?
I thought it was the only route. It may have been bad conditions etc but there was the tech. I now realise that it is not the only tech and as such there is no longer any hold which is nice.

6. Were you staff or public? If staff, was it at a mission or an org? Were you ever in the Sea Org or OSA? Which unit? If not on staff, did you ever volunteer to 'help out'?
Started out as Mission Staff, then joined the SO.

7. Why did you leave the Church of Scientology? Was there a "final straw"?
Not really .... just realised it didn't work as promised. I simply didn't see the results as described. Admin tech was a joke really. Does it work? well show me a place where it does. There ends up being too much admin and not enough actual production. The auditing I think works at the lower levels but after that I don't think it consistently produces what is promised. I mixed with many so called OT's. These guys were not any better than they were before .... only poorer with bigger credit card bills!

I fell off lines, started to read stuff on the net and found The Pilot's work, Trom etc. When I started to read what the Pilot had to say about how the Church had become corrupt and the Tech altered it fitted in with my own thoughts.

8. Do you think the Church of Scientology needs to change some of its practices? If so, what should be changed? How did those practices affect your life?
Come Clean. Get rid of stats! No .... stats are useful but not taken to the degree the current generation take it. Look after the staff. I knew an auditor, Hanni Barahm, she was on staff and wasn't going to renew her contract .... Thank her, give her a big bunch of flowers and an upstat award for giving 5 years service. I think it was all she could do to try and not get in serious ethics trouble for refusing to sign up for another 5 years!

Money, why should DM have £20,000 of Hi Fi in the Manor at St Hill for when he visits, Why are freeloaders so crazy. I had a few friends who had bills for over £50,000! Crazy! Services are too expensive and the results are not there. The OT levels are not OT levels they are really quite low level processes in comparison to what is promised and should not be charged at such a high price. OTI for example!

I don't think the tech has been finished and it is not absolute by any means!

9. If the items you listed in the previous question were changed, would you consider rejoining or staying in the Church of Scientology? If so, why?
Yes, many are really good people and it could be a powerful force if it really was for a doing good and not for stats and money.

I was asked to donate for books to be placed in a library on many occasions. I really got up the girls nose when I said sure, but why am I paying full price, shouldn't CO$ be selling them at cost for these projects? No the CO$ must make it's buck!

10. Any additional comments you would like to make?
There are always way to many excuses as to why the tech doesn't work and a total lack of responsibility. Even a double glazing firm will take responsibility to put things right if your windows fall out!

That's about it really, I am doing a lot better out than in, I have some great friends, good job and lead a very active and enjoyable life. I also have the advantage of knowing a fair bit of Tech and the alternative tech that is available.

I would say go to the CO$, do some courses/grades and then get out before the heat gets turned up and the tech starts to fail. Learn some basics, ARC/KRC etc. Don't bother with the pre - OT levels OT1 - ? ( I don't think LRH discovered any real OT Levels)

All the best.
