1. How did you first become acquainted with the Church of Scientology?
While in the USN, on a WestPac cruise, the word Scientology, caught my attention. The guy who said it turned out to be a Reg at his Org. The rest, they say,is history.

2. What initially appealed to you about scientology?
Direction, purpose, ethics, justice.

3. Were there problems in your life that you thought scientology would address?
Shyness, confidence, courage, reason.

4. Did you see, experience, or hear about things that didn't seem right while you were in the Church of Scientology? What were they, and what convinced you to set aside your feelings?
The 1st year I was at the local org, kinda public-kinda staff/still in the Navy, plus I was still pretty much a dim blub. Would not have known an outpoint if it slapped me in the face.

The 2nd year, I'd just gotten out of the Navy, went on staff at the local org (i had also signed a SO contract with the thought "What else am I going to do?") and promptly got "traded" to the Excalibur for the same "reg" that had reeled me in the year before. Excal was fun, some things didn't make sense, but I thought, maybe some of the ethics&justice PL's were on the "secret" level like the OT levels on the Bridge. Feb-Mar '75 Excal was sold, got married(to a RPF Grad) and transfered to Flag. The First departure from reality, sense, or logic (and an absolute violation of PL) was postings. My new wife, the recent RPF Grad, a former letter reg, was assigned to the TTC. WTF??? Whereas I, the trained mechanic, am led to the bowels of the ship to serve under, (gasp) Dave Murphy. (Why are all the Whack jobs named Dave??) It was a geometrical progression from that point on.

5. Why did you choose to stay in the Church of Scientology?
Wifey, plus this innane hope that some how some way all these weird and wacky ethics and justice cycles would "be corrected" once the chaotic motion of the move from the Apollo to the FLB was complete and the comm line bugs were dealt with.

6. Were you staff or public? If staff, was it at a mission or an org? Were you ever in the Sea Org or OSA? Which unit? If not on staff, did you ever volunteer to 'help out'?
1st yr "public" ('73) '74 Excalibur, '75 Apollo, Dec '75- Apr '76 FLB (yes kiddies, I was there when the Ft Harrison opened). '80 Amnesty returnee to FLB.

7. Why did you leave the Church of Scientology? Was there a "final straw"?
Final Straw? There was no final straw, I GOT a good swift kick in the ass. (THIS OF COURSE, is AFTER my wife gave me a good swift kick in the nuts, gut, head, and buried about a dozen knives to the hilt in my back. Per policy, a CommEV is allowed 7 days, start to finish, it was nearing the end of the second week I had been waiting around (while the powers that be lined up their "guarnteed hangmen") that I decided enough. I wrote my wife a short note telling her I planned on waiting for payday in order to do my laundry and then leaveing. She turned the note into Ethics. I never saw my Routing Out form, I never had a routing out Sec Ck. (nor did I get Paid) In less than 3 days I found myself on a bus bound for NYC. The 2nd time, Amnesty 1980, 2nd verse same as the 1st, only worse.

8. Do you think the Church of Scientology needs to change some of its practices? If so, what should be changed? How did those practices affect your life?
ABSOLUTELY!!!! Maybe "they" should like, oh, USE WRITTEN POLICY, APPLY HCOB's ETC ETC ETC. The biggest problem I see is dismantleing the "Whisper Network", disarming the Back Stabbers Inc. And do a lot lot lot more work on the "K" in KRC, and the "R" in ARC, IE:more attention on ABILITY, a "little" less on postulates. Just a bit more inter-connection between the REALITY of the physical universe and the GOAL of SPIRITUAL ENLIGHTENMENT.

9. If the items you listed in the previous question were changed, would you consider rejoining or staying in the Church of Scientology? If so, why?
Yes* (*after 20 yrs or so of observation, tuneing, and flub testing the flow lines) At the time that I write this there have been 303 postings, I read them all. Unlike some, I have benifited from Scio. Whether "The Bridge" is a bridge to nowhere, I feel the jury is still out on that one, talk to a lot of old "old timers" and they will tell you that there IS something there.

10. Any additional comments you would like to make?
I currently am a member, "in good standing". I am deeply conflicted, on one hand I would like to try and resolve the looney tunes justice cycles that got me booted in the first place. But on the other hand I've been on the net for a while and I know some of the main players in the Whisper Network are now at the top of the food chain, so I really have a snow ball's chance. There is also the factor of the OSA. I've never had any trouble with them, and I don't want to start now. In a way I'm kind of enjoying this game of cat&mouse, with "them" thinking they can seduce me a third time. Since I've wondered the web, the bubble has burst, all hope of ever makeing gains within the offical CoS is gone. I've not made any connections with the FreeZone as yet, but I'm still de-compressing, my body is still healing from years of neglect because of the false datum on doctors, medical healing and "other practices".

Yes, boys and girls, the boiler room call center found me, I bit and bought "The Basics" package but only AFTER I delayed long enough to get some serious discounts, even then i still paid more than what its worth, especially if it is as alter-ised as i think it going to be. (yes, i've had the books over 2 yrs &still not read them, only had the net 6-8mos & still learning. Glad i didn't dive in actualling expecting answers.) Last but not least I would like to leave you all with a chuckle. LOL is short for LaughOutLoud. As "Scientologists" can we use lrh for laugh really hard?
