1. How did you first become acquainted with the Church of Scientology?
My brother was first to get involved, next my wife, I did the OCA and always felt I could be improved upon and so began auditing and training. My wife and I later sold our house and car and joined staff full time.

2. What initially appealed to you about scientology?
It appeared to work and the people were very friendly and a joy to be with, of course now, looking back, I realise that I was falling for the con.

3. Were there problems in your life that you thought scientology would address?
No, just the idea that improvement was desirable.

4. Did you see, experience, or hear about things that didn't seem right while you were in the Church of Scientology? What were they, and what convinced you to set aside your feelings?
First, the outright lie about pay that got us to join staff, after that the long working hours, the absence of pay, the sacrifices expected, the starvation, the pressure to produce, you accept it all for the greater good. At this point you can no longer think for yourself.

5. Why did you choose to stay in the Church of Scientology?
I firmly believed it worked, that Ron had discovered the only workable answers to greater spiritual awareness and had solved the problems of mankind to boot!

6. Were you staff or public? If staff, was it at a mission or an org? Were you ever in the Sea Org or OSA? Which unit? If not on staff, did you ever volunteer to 'help out'?
Public Executive Secretary at Sunderland Org until I blew and got declared, then ED of Kendal Mission, in spite of the declare still being in place. I was out-qualled for the SO, thank God.

7. Why did you leave the Church of Scientology? Was there a "final straw"?
I got busted in 1994 as mission ED after a few weeks of down-statistics and spent the next 14 years raising a family. The final straw for me was in February 2008 when I heard about the protests and decided to investigate for myself. What I discovered was the truth about Scientology, that it is a con and always was a con, that L. Ron Hubbard, far from being the saviour of Mankind was an habitual liar and a paranoid, cruel, madman.

8. Do you think the Church of Scientology needs to change some of its practices? If so, what should be changed? How did those practices affect your life?
The CofS needs to be dissolved, period.

9. If the items you listed in the previous question were changed, would you consider rejoining or staying in the Church of Scientology? If so, why?
Absolutely not, under any circumstances. Truth is more important than the lies Hubbard peddles.

10. Any additional comments you would like to make?
Tiocfaidh ár lá.
