1. How did you first become acquainted with the Church of Scientology?
Basic lecture at Davis Mission

2. What initially appealed to you about scientology?
The lower part of the old grade chart. What Dianetics and the Grades handled.

3. Were there problems in your life that you thought scientology would address?
Harmful effects of drugs, Well & Happy human being, Ability to communicate freely with anyone on any subject... Basically the stuff the lower grades handled.

4. Did you see, experience, or hear about things that didn't seem right while you were in the Church of Scientology? What were they, and what convinced you to set aside your feelings?
Of course. Most staff begin by dedicating their lives to Scientology. Most want to help others and see Scientology as the best or only way to do this. Staff willingly work hard long hours and make tremendous sacrifices yet pay is very low, no basic health benefits, little to no personal enhancement and staff are not respected. I've seen many examples is misapplication of disconnection, Knowledge reports solicited to indict. Families broken up. Divorces ordered. Severe reality adjustments. Physical violence. Culling PC folders. False declares especially for Dianetic Clears. Criminal activity of all sorts. Second Dynamic perversions and promiscuity on an unbelievable level by staff, especially senior staff. Religious intolerance of the severest kind. Much of the Golden Age Of Tech is altered tech. The new Basics is more of the same and both invalidate earlier tech training which violates several policies. The list first hand experiences in these and many other unbeleiveable incidents is very long.

5. Why did you choose to stay in the Church of Scientology?
I'm not sure I'm still in good standing. Some of the finest people I ever hope to know are Scientologists who are declared SP. I refuse to disconnect but the the Church might not yet be savy to this. However my story is typical. I made real gains in the beginning and similar results in others especially on the lower levels. I Joined staff and was a very successful course supervisor, auditor and case supervisor. Back in the '70's Tech & Qual staff saw mainly good results. Staff tend to justify things that shouldn't be. Eventually I found friends in a small group of well trained tech staff where we could speak freely without fear of being written up. This allowed us to discuss the crap going on and keep going despite it all and without going into agreement with the out tech and abuses. Later, after leaving staff, many people I knew were hardcore Scientologists. My livlyhood and some family conections were dependent on my being in good standing. Since I was respected because of my training and the results I got while on staff. No one suspected I had become disaffected with the organization. I knew if found out I'd have to disconnect. So I pretended for a long time and got away with it.

6. Were you staff or public? If staff, was it at a mission or an org? Were you ever in the Sea Org or OSA? Which unit? If not on staff, did you ever volunteer to 'help out'?
As stated above I was on staff. Class IV Org. Public at Class IV Org, ASHO, AO & Flag both Ship & Land Base. I was a bonded G.O. Auditor auditing and sec checking G.O. staff.

7. Why did you leave the Church of Scientology? Was there a "final straw"?
Yes there was a final straw! In the early 80's I was not on staff then but knew a mission holder who I would sometimes help out with CSing and auditing when the Mission had a backlog. In late '81 or early '82 this mission holder went to a meeting of Franchise holders at Flag and came back VERY excited telling me about all the wonderful changes that were to take place within the Church. He was very detailed about the conference. Shortly thereafter, this squirrel de-dinging process started up in N. Cal. This was started in one of the missions out here and spread like wild fire. The process was related to that first Mission holders conference at Flag and might have pre-dated that conference. There were sever De-Ding events held all over N. Cal. I never attended any of these but I knew several people who had. The events were described as fanatical to the point of insanity. The basis of the De-dinging was connected in some weird way to the 'Responsibility of Leaders' PL also known as the Simon Bolivar Policy. The people I knew came back from these events either as fanatics or supified by what was going on. I was ordered to have the De-ding process run on me. After clearing the auditor cleared the commands I recognized the process to be out of ARC and refused to have it run without a written reference. No reference was ever produced so I refused and was verbally declared on the spot. A few days later I was called in and put in a room with 5 people. All were OT's and 3 were Flag trained one was the mission holder I knew. I was gang bang sec Checked and then given a few hours of SRA (severe reality adjustment) but held my position. I punched and broke one guys nose and broke out of the room and was verbally declared a second time. I wrote a detailed report about this de-dinging to the International Justice Chief and the Senior CS international and sent it through the S.F. Org and AO. Shortly thereafter the infamous San Francisco Mission Holders Conference/Briefing was held. I was contacted by the mission holder who was part of my sec check/SRA session. Who apologized and solicited my help to deliver hundreds of hours of auditing that was regged during the De-ding period. I refused but he came to see me and had a tape of the SF Mission Holders conference and a transcript which he gave me. That conference was the most brutal fucked up out tech thing I've hever heard or read. And I refused to have anything to do with it or the mission. Shortly after this a series of events were scheduled by Flag that were mandatory for all Scientologists.I went to one of these evevnts. Every attendee was meter checked before entering the room. Everyone was black as black can be but the meter checkers were calling F/N's on everyone. When we were inside the doors were locked and guarded. Then the International Finance Police Dictator Wendal Reynolds made his appearance on the stage. This asshole was accompanied by an young lady assistant whose name I don't recall. Mr. Reynolds asked if there was anyone present that doubted Scientology worked. A few hands went up, probably new people and they were summarily declared and dismissed. Reynolds then went on a rant declaring all of Northern California a squirrel Group and then ordered everyone to Flag to do the Keeping Scientology Working' course. No one was allowed leave the meeting until they had confirmed plane reservations to Flag. ALL OF THE ABOVE IS NOT THE FINAL STRAW! The final straw was at Flag. I arrived at Flag armed with several policies showing that among other things, forcing people onto a course was out tech or off policy. The LRH host, his name slips my mind now, was professional as always and he help us with accommodations and we put on a special routing form for the 'squirrels'. The Flag staff on the routing form were all down tone. I kept showing these policies and NOT ONE PERSON LOOKED AT THEM. one of the people on the routing form was a young Australian lady who said she was the Solo DofP. I tried to get her to listen to my situation and read the policy. She gave me a stone cold look and said 'I think you are being suppressively reasonable' and routed me to Ethics. The MAA I saw was another young lady who did listen to me and read the policy and seemed to agree with me. She told me to settle into my room and made an appointment for me to go to Qual later that day. I sat in Qual for hours and showed the Cramming Officer told him my involvement with de-dinging and the policies being violated at flag. He was not happy and made an appointment for me to come back to see the Qual Sec. I went to see the Flag Qual Sec and he or she never showed up but a very young kid told me to report back to Ethics. Back in ethics I was met by the original MAA and another older woman who was her senior. I was told the Qual Sec has ordered me to read a reference that explained the current situation. I was handed a copy of the 1982 SF MISSION HOLDERS BRIEFING! And this transcript was heavily edited compared to the version I had originally been given but the message was the same and I GOT IT!After 3 days in Ethics and Qual I WAS BEING THREATENED TO GET WITH THE PROGRAM OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES! THIS WAS THE FINAL STRAW!!! Here I was at Flag, the Meca of Standard Tech and nobody, not one person was interested in even reading the HCOPL's and HCOB's I had with me. No one was willing to listen to me much less hear me out and I had nothing to do with this De-ding crap. So I read the transcript and routed out of Ethics. I went to my room and packed my bags and decided to leave Flag and face the consequences. I cannot explain the feeling of loss and hopelessness and disappointment. I decided to take a walk to cool down and read the policies I had brought and assess the ramifications of my decision. My mind was made up and I was leaving. On the way back into the Fort Harrison the LRH Host spotted me and called me over. I explained the situation to him and he read the policies. The he said 'You are absolutely correct in this. The policy and tech is correct. And I do not disagree with your decision. But let me offer you some advice that you can take or not. This will blow over. It is an insane but temporary situation and it will come right in the end. I suggest you route onto course and then go home and wait it out. I believe doing this will not be a mistake whatever happens in the future.' The LRH Host was the only Flag staff to listen to me, read the policy and tell me the truth. I routed on course and finished in record time and routed out of Flag. I saw many people I knew there. Some on course and others being sec checked at full Flag rates. One friend fished 2 intensives of sec checking and could not leave flag until he found a way to pay for a 3rd intensive. He was eventually declared.

8. Do you think the Church of Scientology needs to change some of its practices? If so, what should be changed? How did those practices affect your life?
In my view the Church has always had flaws. These flaws were not good but correctable. Since about 1982 there have been several huge changes. It's simple enough to see what has taken place. David Miscavige is in the process of destroying the Church and it is now past being recoverable. We let him do it the same way I sat in that room and let the Finance Dictator berate, humiliate and intimidate a room of over 100 people. I, we should have stood up and beat the crap out of that guy. There were a handful of SO staff at the SF Mission Holders Conference. The Mission Holders were chicken shits too. It's too late for change. Miscavige will make certain every pre-1980 Scientologist either toes the line starting with the new basics or they will be declared. How many founding and old time Scientologists still living are in good standing? Not many That stat alone says volumes. The only Scientologists left are post LRH. These folks do not make auditors. These folks are into IAS donations or other donations that do not require delivery of a product. They have no clue where that money is going. The Church's new public are those rich enough to pay these donations. Without delivery of a good product it's doomed to failure.

9. If the items you listed in the previous question were changed, would you consider rejoining or staying in the Church of Scientology? If so, why?
It will not change. There would have to be a new Church built

10. Any additional comments you would like to make?
Not now
