1. How did you first become acquainted with the Church of Scientology?
A commercial for the Dianetics book intrigued me and I called the local Mission for the state I lived in at the time and bought the DN Book and Extension Course and helped them with letters once in a while. Then a few years later got involved with another Mission when I moved then joined staff after a few courses and Life Repair, then went onto staff at a Class IV Org for a few years.

2. What initially appealed to you about scientology?
The 'common sense' of it all. The 'exact science' of how to 'free yourself' spiritually.

3. Were there problems in your life that you thought scientology would address?
Relationship issues, personality issues, losses.

4. Did you see, experience, or hear about things that didn't seem right while you were in the Church of Scientology? What were they, and what convinced you to set aside your feelings?
The way they kept you going on course after course, auditing after auditing, money and more money, time and more time, to where ALL your free time and money was spent on Scn!

5. Why did you choose to stay in the Church of Scientology?
Because I beleived all the hype about 'Clearing The Planet' and that we were 'really' helping people on the 'soul' level.

6. Were you staff or public? If staff, was it at a mission or an org? Were you ever in the Sea Org or OSA? Which unit? If not on staff, did you ever volunteer to 'help out'?
I was Public only for a few short months before I was staff (for about a year at a Mission, then a few years at a Class IV Org). Before that, I did volunteer a bit at the first Mission doing letters for them, when I was still very new and didn't even know anything about them much, yet.

7. Why did you leave the Church of Scientology? Was there a "final straw"?
I left due to the pressures of 'Clearing The Planet' (sometimes I felt like It was all up to me, alone to do it,too). The lack of food, sleep and comfort drove me to leave (and I had to be talked into it, at that!).

8. Do you think the Church of Scientology needs to change some of its practices? If so, what should be changed? How did those practices affect your life?
It needs to really PROVE to us that there REALLY IS something to strive for, that there REALLY IS a TRUE OT STATE! All the OT's I've met, while very nice, that's about it! If I'm gonna spend my life working 24/7 for them and/or spend upwards of 300 grand on Scn, then I want MORE than just being 'a nice person'!

9. If the items you listed in the previous question were changed, would you consider rejoining or staying in the Church of Scientology? If so, why?
Don't really think so. The money thing would have to radically change. The strictness and rigors of Staff and Sea Org life would have to change..and even THEN, I think it's all ONE BIG CULT!

10. Any additional comments you would like to make?
They are insidious. They are a CULT, pure and simple. Simply STAY AWAY!
