1. How did you first become acquainted with the Church of Scientology?
Walked into the church, spoke to a staff member and bought Dianetics.

2. What initially appealed to you about scientology?
It claimed to have answers no one else had.

3. Were there problems in your life that you thought scientology would address?
Money problems, getting ahead in life, job security, job advancement.

4. Did you see, experience, or hear about things that didn't seem right while you were in the Church of Scientology? What were they, and what convinced you to set aside your feelings?
I heard illogical arguments/beliefs. I hung onto the questions I had about these but didn't heed them and walk away because most of the staff seemed undereducated and I attributed the problem to that. I observed staff working too long and for extremely little pay but they said they wanted to do what they were doing. I did write complaints about poor service and supposed 'out-points' which I didn't get acknowledged or dealt with. I never received responses by complaining through the correct process.

5. Why did you choose to stay in the Church of Scientology?
I was told not to read the news and not to subject myself to differing opinions because I'd become enturbulated by the entheta so I didn't know things got worse (eg. more illogical) as one progressed in scientology.

6. Were you staff or public? If staff, was it at a mission or an org? Were you ever in the Sea Org or OSA? Which unit? If not on staff, did you ever volunteer to 'help out'?
Public.

7. Why did you leave the Church of Scientology? Was there a "final straw"?
I personally became treated poorly as time went on and as I became exposed to more people within the org. When problems arose, I observed and experienced something I will relate in an analogy: if you and a scientologist were stuck in quicksand, that scientologist would climb up your back and step on your head (drowning you) to save him/herself.

8. Do you think the Church of Scientology needs to change some of its practices? If so, what should be changed? How did those practices affect your life?
Change, no. Shred and burn and start all over, maybe.

9. If the items you listed in the previous question were changed, would you consider rejoining or staying in the Church of Scientology? If so, why?
No, I don't want to have anything to do with scientology or any of its members.

10. Any additional comments you would like to make?
I am truly sorry for being involved with this organization and for doubting myself enough that I sought help from them. I would have been fine all the past years without them, in fact better off because I'd have not spent money there and I'd have friends who I didn't have time for or who backed off (now I know for good reason) when I told them I was a scientologist. I had some items stolen at the church which I never got reimbursed for. I am so upset about the time wasted that I could have spent on other more constructive pursuits, particularly in regards to work. I've applied very little action in this area because my spare time was spent at the org (courses, events, etc.) and because my motivation in this area of life waned.
