1. How did you first become acquainted with the Church of Scientology?
Was 'bodyrouted' to see a movie 'on the mind.' It turned out to be the interview with Hitchman, the reporter who turned scieno, became OT VIII and recently fled to So. Africa to avoid implications in Reed Slatkin's incredible ponze scheme.

2. What initially appealed to you about scientology?
The people, really. They all 'seemed' so happy and productive. It was back in the late 70's and there was a sense of purpose: We were all a bunch of idealists trying to change the world. The guy(s) pulling the strings at the other end did not have the same noble goals. Also, at first, having a technology on the mind and spirit sounded like a very good thing, indeed.

3. Were there problems in your life that you thought scientology would address?
No, not really. Other than the 'problem' of being human; the human condition: Who am I? Where do I come from? I was and still am a 'seeker.' I was looking for a place, etc. where I could achieve spiritual growth or development and thought I'd found it in $cientology.

4. Did you see, experience, or hear about things that didn't seem right while you were in the Church of Scientology? What were they, and what convinced you to set aside your feelings?
When you're on staff or public at a local org or mission you are totally oblivious of the things $cientology's management doesn't want you to know about that 'anyone' can now easily find on the net these days. So one doesn't hear about the cases that would make anyone's hair stand up, so to speak. Their PR machinery takes care of that. One is somewhat shielded, as well, from the many things that DO go wrong in a local 'church' or 'mission.' Of course as staff I experienced the poor working conditions, the low pay and long hours, the sometimes brutal treatment one gets from seniors. The whole system is set up like a communist or facist system. Only a few at the top CAN HAVE! That was a problem. Of course, one sets EVERYTHING ASIDE because one has been given a purpose, a carrot. It dangles there in front of you throughout your $cientology life with its promises of blissful salvation and 'TOTAL FREEDOM!' HA! What a joke! I'm glad I'm done with all of it.

5. Why did you choose to stay in the Church of Scientology?
(beauty is different to the devil) pseudo-scientific or scientific sounding piece of fiction. That was the start of it all. Actually, this guy'd been writting fiction all along. The master of the pulp, himself! LoL From Excalibur, to Dianetics and finally his cosmology with its walls of fire, et al. Is it called the wall of fire, because after you pass it you're in ...hell?! Anyway, the joke's on me/us and that's why I stayed.

6. Were you staff or public? If staff, was it at a mission or an org? Were you ever in the Sea Org or OSA? Which unit? If not on staff, did you ever volunteer to 'help out'?
I was staff and public off and on several times.

7. Why did you leave the Church of Scientology? Was there a "final straw"?
No final straw but a gradual erosion of the lies. I started to look (like eLron always said to do -another way he hides things right in front of you- he never wanted you to LOOK at all). Things were changing inside Scientology; especially after the '82 takecover. Things were getting more serious. Divad Misscabbage was at the helm. Doesn't he remind you of Gen. Bonaparte? Oh sorry, was it Emperor? Must be the size :)LoL But if there was one, it was my last trip to Clearwater/Tampa area and maybe who knows, eLRon may be right after all: A THETAN KNOWS! And I smelled a rat. And I found the nest. I should have this one posted as an OT phenomena!

8. Do you think the Church of Scientology needs to change some of its practices? If so, what should be changed? How did those practices affect your life?
Well, the no 1 practice they should cease immediately is STOP THE FRAUD! In my opinion this is the basic on the chain, to use one of eLron's terms - oh he plagiarized that one too?! There is NO UPPER BRIDGE! eLron did NOT leave OT levels IX-XV developed as the church claims. After the last OTVIII they're doing like Indiana Jones in his famous one liner in the 1st movie: '...I don't know. I'm making it up as I go.' So...if you took that away, they have nothing! All they ever had was the 'dangling carrot' of spiritual [TOTAL] freedom; immortality; being 'at cause' over life, etc., etc. They can offer none of that. That was the promise. The promise unkept. What happened to 'deliver what you promise,' eLron? What of keeping friendly relations...blah blah blah... SHOW ME THE $$$. Let's put it this way: If $cientolgy were to change all the things it needs to, it wouldn't be $at-a, I mean $cientology anymore! So all the inequities, the low pay, the slave labor, the mistreatment of women, the child abuse, the legal spiritual scam, the introverting of people on the OT levels to the point they go insane, the total disregard for human life, as in the 'free'winds being full of asbestos, ALL would have to change. It affected me mostly in having been all along a detour much like the example eLron uses in his HCOPL, Tech Degrades when he talks about the guide leaving someone ( a lil girl?) on the side of a canyon to look at the pretty rocks. Well, I've been looking at 'pretty rocks' for 27 years but I'm free again! So it effectively derailed my goal of seeking spiritual growth and enlightenment for that time. I'm back on track once again. My heartfelt thanks to all that helped get me out of the trap.

9. If the items you listed in the previous question were changed, would you consider rejoining or staying in the Church of Scientology? If so, why?
As I said before, if the things needed to change were accomplished, it would not be $cientology anymore. If they presented it as a true religion and people wanted to have these 'beliefs' I wouldn't have a problem with it IF the other
non-spiritual factors changed - such as the slave labor, child abuse, etc. And this was really the FINAL STRAW as you speak of it above: Seeing or reading about all these and realizing -after the veil of indocrination had been somewhat lifted - that they were true. Some factors needed extrapolation, others glared brighter than the sun in your eyes, once someone pointed them out for what they are. Once I SAW...there was no turning back. And one other thing (basic?): $cientology's NOT a religion to begin with. It's at best a collection of eLron's fiction presented as scientific dogmatic fact and if you want to make THAT a religion, knock yourself out, you're protected by the Constitution. But treat and pay your staff better, let women procreate as God intended, etc., etc.

10. Any additional comments you would like to make?
I may 'sound' somewhat bitter but I was actually shocked at how easily I 'turned' once I had all the information available to me. You know, eLron, no OMMITTED DATA, no FALSEHOODS, ALTERED IMPORTANCE; these are some of the so called 'illogics' Well, it looks like $cientology is pretty illogical. And since eLron, again, says that ETHICS are REASON, and I consider myself a fairly rational individual, I think I'll pack my bags and head for more fertile grounds. Consider this my DOUBT formula, O$A, RTC, Co$T <-- that's Church of $piritual Technology for those who don't know and they own RTC and $cientology and 3 of the 4 agents of the corp. are not $cientologists but then again, that should not be a problem, according to d man himself, in one of his lectures tells his audience that he's not a $ there you have it. Noone in the audience asked him WHAT he was then, if not a scieno? He did recommend his good ole friend, the late Alistair Crowley, the beast666 on one of the PDC tapes. Finally I'll take this opportunity to thank the many people who influenced my decision(s)

1.- Arnie Lerma
2.- Andreas Heldal Lund and OperationClambake
3.- Larry Wollersheim
4.- The many stories I read from people who'd been involved
with the cult on the abovementioned sites:
Creed Pearson, Jesse Prince, Gerry Armstrong, etc., etc.
The list is long and keeps growing; as it should.

Thank you.
