Scientology - Disconnection Hurts

Name or Alias: bauble
How long ago was your disconnection? recently
Are you a current member, an ex-member, or never a member?
Did you disconnect, or did someone disconnect from you?
The other person disconnected.
1. What is (or was) your relationship to the disconnected person?
Someone who I loved very much.

2. What were the circumstances surrounding the disconnection?
Two disconnections occurred over a couple of days. The first one was due to reacting to my supposed low-toned communication (ie. the beginnings of an argument). This triggered anti-scientology sentiment in me and my providing of information about corruption of management, and thus resulted in an official disconnection letter.

3. Were you given a choice about disconnecting? Was there anything you could have done to avoid the disconnection? If so, please describe the choice involved or what you could have done. Do you now feel that you made the best decision?

4. Was a formal disconnection letter sent? If so, what did it say? If not, how was the disconnection communicated?
The first one was informal.

The second one was formal (there is also a factual error in there about intending to do OT7):

the truth comes out. It makes sense now. I am out ethics for my connection to you and need to handle this. If you show up at my door I will call the police.

I am making the world a better place by being on OT 7. That is a fact. A really big fact. This is my life and always will be. My ability to see the truth is very valid. You have lied to me when you came here as you talked about getting onto OT 7. It seems your connection to me is to get me out of Scientology.

I will forward your e-mail and it's entheta to OSA Canada and OSA in Australia.

You can consider this your disconnection letter.

This is a complete and utter disconnetion letter.

I will never speak to you again or answer any one of your e-mails.

I will miss the ARC and friendship and fun we had and all the long chats over the internet. I will truely and honestly miss this and all the cute e-mails I constantly get. You are the only e-mail friend I have.

I consider your actions covert and suppressive.

I have not done these things to you and have been honest and truthful. I can't call you a friend.

You have e-mailed me for years and never once in the last 4 years or so ever put any entheta on my lines but you are covert in you efforts to me as you never were forward about your intentions. You would even tell me how _____ was when I ask and never mentioned his status.

Good bye.

PS this disconnection letter has already been approved by HCO. OSA has a copy of our last e-mails with your last e-mail highlighted.
OSA in your cont now also knows about your cycle.

5. In what way has the disconnection affected your life?
I have had to start on a block of counselling to deal with the trauma. I have been feeling very physically ill. Disconnection is what caused me to leave scientology in the first place. It is a cruel practice with very bad mental consequences. That is the intention.

6. What were your feelings at the time about the disconnection?
I thought here comes the trauma again. I also remembered Tommy Davis denying the existence of disconnection to the media (and there were earlier denials by OSA in the media too). It's in practice alright!

7. What are your current feelings about the disconnection?
I think it is achieving its aim of maximum upset and is in scientology terms designed to cave one in. It is malicious and hateful.

8. Has there been an attempt at reconnection? Were there any conditions for reconnecting? If there was an attempt, did you succeed at reconnecting?
No. The guy is on OT7 - he has to disconnect otherwise he will be punished with sec checks, ethics handlings, and threat of being declared himself/kicked off the level. This is more important to him than kindness or acting like a 'wog' would. There is very little sympathy (empathy) in scientology - sympathy is considered low-tone.

9. If you are currently disconnected, would you like to reconnect? Do you believe it is possible, in your particular case? If not, why?
Very much. No, years of cultic indoctrination provides the justification for doing what he has done. The higher up the person goes, the more fanatical they become.

Would you like to make any additional comments?
It is interesting to that Hubbard cancelled Disconnection in 1968: (HCOPL 15 nov 1968 ' Cancellation of Disconnection.' 'Since we can now handle all types of case disconnection as a condition is cancelled.' LRH) ...yet Miscavige put it back in - it works well for keeping a cult up and running (or so he thinks). Disconnection is so very final isn't it? I feel for everyone else out there who is disconnected from their children, siblings, parents, and friends as a result of this cultic practice.
